Afraid of needles?

Funny story… I (Caity, your practitioner) used to have intense needle phobia.

It’s true, I promise, just ask my mum. Getting through acupuncture school was actually an amazing way to slowly work through my fear of needles.

One of my pet hates is when someone says “Don’t be afraid, it doesn’t hurt anyway”…because in my experience the fear is not usually rational, it just is.

So I’m not going to tell you acupuncture doesn’t hurt. What I want you to know, as a possible future patient, is that your fear or discomfort is real and important, and nothing will ever happen as part of your treatment that you aren’t completely ready for or comfortable with.

One of the things I love about Traditional Chinese Medicine as a practice is that it is built on flexibility. Meaning that we have a range of tools, aside from needles, that we can explore in treating your complaint. If a needle-free treatment is what you are comfortable with then let me know and I will figure out if we can meet your treatment goals that way.

If you aren’t very fond of needles but would like to slowly ease your way toward acupuncture this is also something we can do.

Every person has a different sensitivity to needles and I have very delicate needles as part of my tool kit for those of you that are sensitive (like me).

If you have questions or would like some more information about treatments before committing to a booking feel free to email me at goodbodiestcm@gmail.com and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I really do know what it’s like to be scared of needles, and I hope it’s not the thing that stops you from exploring all the types of treatment that might help you meet your health goals.
